🌟Meet Harrison - Classroom to Nursery Crew

Placement: Kidsproof SEND Pre-school 
Age: 18
Support Need: Social anxiety, communication, literacy and numeracy, 
Outcome: Full time, paid apprenticeship.

Harrison always loved the idea of working with people but found social situations really overwhelming. Through a supported internship at Kidsproof Nursery, Harrison worked alongside a job coach who supported him by  breaking down workplace tasks, provided daily encouragement and supported him with social and professional communication and practices.

Over time, Harrison built strong professional working relationships with the team and worked well with the children, he was allocated key children within the nursery, following the early years framework to support and develop their growth.   Harrison use to struggle within the classroom at school and found himself making excuses to not attend English and Maths classes.  Since joining the supported internship, Harrison has flourished and has attended all of his Literacy and numeracy classes.  This wasn't plain sailing to start with, but he soon realised that with the right support and dedication provided by the team at TALPER, that he could achieve his goals.

He now works full time at the nursery and is saving up for a new motorbike to get to work on his own.
